Friday App Find: LaLa Lunchbox

by jessica on June 8, 2012

In addition to being taught how to be tech healthy, children also need to be taught how to make healthy choices in terms of the food they eat. Lucky for parents, a new app is available that makes it easy for kids to have a healthy say in the lunches they pack.

LaLa Lunchbox brings fun to the task of making lunches. Its simple interface makes it easy for kids and parents alike to use. Kids can create their own profile (complete with cute monster profile picture) and then build their own lunch from scratch. Children are given 4 food basic food groups to build their lunch from, and within those food groups, the possibilities are endless. Even if your child’s favorite food isn’t represented, it can easily be added to the selection for next time.

The app also helps make the trip to the grocery store easier. By tapping the “Grocery” tab in the bottom right corner, parents can access a list that compiles all of the child’s lunches from the week. As items are purchased, they can be checked off the list, and parents can even access past lists.

The app is available for iOS devices for $1.99, and can be used by kids from preschool to elementary school.
