Parents who loved Reading Rainbow when it was a TV show will be thrilled to discover that it is back in app form. Rated for children 3 to 9, the Reading Rainbow app was designed to reintroduce kids to the joys of reading, like its sister TV show. In a sea of uneducational shows, Reading Rainbow was an influential beacon and now the Reading Rainbow app is an educational and entertaining app in a sea of uneducational and, at times, unsafe apps.
The Reading Rainbow app includes access to 150 interactive books, with frequent updates that expand the library, customized recommendations, video field trips, rewards programs to motivate reading and a parent dashboard that allows parents to see their child’s reading progress.
The app is free to download, including one free book and access to introductory videos. After that, access to all of the books is available for a monthly subscription fee of $9.99. A 6-month subscription is also available for $29.99.
And what Reading Rainbow app would be complete without videos featuring LeVar Burton himself?
The Reading Rainbow app is currently available for the iPad here.
